Sunset Town, the pastel resort town at the southern tip of Phu Quoc

On this page
Sunset Town is the newest part of Phu Quoc, a pastel resort town built from nothing at the southern tip of the island. It holds the Kiss Bridge, the cable car to Hon Thom and an evening show over the water. It is a planned attraction rather than a place, and it is at its best in the hour before dark.
What is Sunset Town?
Sunset Town is a resort district at An Thoi, on the southern tip of Phu Quoc, built in a Mediterranean style with pastel buildings, a clock tower, squares, shops and hotels. The developer behind the Phu Quoc cable car built it around the lower station, and it opened in stages from the early 2020s.
Sunset Town has no history and does not pretend to. What it offers is a walkable waterfront, the island's most photographed bridge, and a sunset view across the Gulf of Thailand from the west-facing shore.
What is the Kiss Bridge?
The Kiss Bridge is a footbridge built out over the sea at Sunset Town, made of two curving halves that reach towards each other at the tip and stop just short of touching. It opened in 2024 and was designed by the Italian architect Marco Casamonti.
The gap between the halves is the idea behind the name. At sunset the bridge is crowded with people photographing the gap against the light, and it is worth arriving an hour before the sun goes down to walk it before the crowd.
What is free and what is ticketed?
Walking Sunset Town's streets, the waterfront and the Kiss Bridge is free. The ticketed parts are the cable car to Hon Thom, the evening show and the water park and attractions on the island at the other end of the cable car.
| Part | Cost |
|---|---|
| Streets, waterfront, Kiss Bridge | Free |
| Cable car to Hon Thom | Ticketed, with the island park |
| Kiss of the Sea evening show | Ticketed |
| Restaurants and bars | Resort prices |
The Phu Quoc cable car page covers the ride, the ticket and the wind closures, and the cable car is the natural afternoon before an evening here.
What is the show at Sunset Town?
The show at Sunset Town is Kiss of the Sea, a multimedia performance over the water with fountains, light projection, lasers and fireworks. It runs in the evening on most nights, and seats face the sea on a purpose-built stand.
Tickets are sold in advance and on the day. The schedule changes with the season and pauses in bad weather, so confirm the date before planning an evening around it. The fireworks are visible free from the waterfront, though the projections are not.
When should you go to Sunset Town?
Go to Sunset Town Phu Quoc in the late afternoon. Ride the cable car first if you want it, walk back along the waterfront, reach the Kiss Bridge an hour before sunset, and stay for dinner and the show. Arriving at midday means heat and little shade.
The dry season from November to April gives the clearest sunsets, while the wet months bring cloud and the occasional cancelled show. The Phu Quoc guide sets out the seasons.
Weekends and Vietnamese holidays bring large domestic crowds, above all on the Kiss Bridge at sunset and at the show. A weekday evening in the dry season is the calmest. Hotel prices in the town drop sharply from May to October, when the rain tends to come in short afternoon bursts.
How do you get to Sunset Town?
Sunset Town Phu Quoc sits about 25 to 30 km from Duong Dong and the main Long Beach hotels, roughly forty minutes by car. A taxi or Grab runs 250,000 to 400,000 dong each way, and a rented scooter takes the main road south.
Staying in the south puts Sunset Town within walking distance, and the Phu Quoc where to stay guide covers Bai Sao and the southern end. For the island's other resort town, in the north, see Grand World.
